Cet article a crée un tollé au sein d’une frange de la population Camerounaise.
Mais à y regarder de plus près, ce sont en majorité les ressortissants de l’Ouest Cameroun qui s’y opposent .
Et pour cause.
Etant les plus nombreux dans les principales villes du Cameroun, sans cet article 246, les Bamilèkés seront Maire à vie dans ces villes, et notamment à Douala et à Yaoundé. Le vote étant essentiellement tribal dans le contexte Camerounais.
Ce qui peut à la longue heurter les populations originaires de ces régions qui seront privées de tout pouvoir décisionnaire, et entraîner des mouvements d’humeurs.
La première question qui vient à l’esprit est de savoir si les populations de l’Ouest accepterons , des Maires d’autres Ethnies, sachant que la société Bamiléké est la plus traditionaliste du pays.
La décentralisation n’a aucun sens si les peuples de ces régions ne peuvent pas gérer leurs cités..
Les comparaisons avec ce qui se fait en Europe n’ont pas de sens, puisque la société Africaine a ses spécificités
C’est en cela que cet article 246 préserve la paix sociale au Cameroun.
